Experience a world with a full day/night/season cycle based on real time, uncover an expanded story with more character involvement, and build your dream team with a curated Pokédex of 300 classic monsters and their evolutions. With battle gimmicks like Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, a "Skill" system that replaces HMs, and a completely new plot involving Giovanni's control over Mewtwo, this is the ultimate retro adventure.

- Two Regions in One Story (Kanto & Johto): Explore both the Kanto and Johto regions in a single, seamless adventure, collecting all 16 badges. The game features a unique progression where you travel to Johto after the 7th Kanto gym.
- Combined Storylines: The game's plot combines the stories of R/B/Y and G/S/C with elements from the first Pokémon movie. This includes a new, central plot where Giovanni still has control over Mewtwo, leading to new boss battles against him, his clone army, and Mewtwo itself.
- Skill System Replaces HMs: The traditional HM system has been completely replaced by a new "Skill" system, where your character learns useful field moves that don't take up a Pokémon's moveslot.
- Real-Time Day/Night, Season & Moon Cycles: The game features a deep and immersive clock system based on real time, which includes not only a day/night cycle, but also month, season, and even moon phase cycles that can affect events and Pokémon migrations.
- Curated Pokédex of 300 Pokémon: The Pokédex features 300 Pokémon primarily from the first two generations, but also includes their later-gen baby and final evolutions (like Magmortar and Rhyperior).
- Rebalanced & Retyped Starters: The Kanto and Johto starters have new, updated typings to make them more unique, such as Fire/Dragon Charizard, Water/Steel Blastoise, and Grass/Psychic Meganium.
- No More Trade Evolutions: All Pokémon that previously required trading to evolve now have new, accessible in-game evolution methods, like leveling up at a certain level or while holding a specific item.
- Following Pokémon: Your lead Pokémon will follow you on your adventure.
- Two Starters: You will receive a second starter Pokémon during your journey.
- In-Battle Evolution: Pokémon can now evolve mid-battle, just like in the anime.
- Massive Post-Game: The adventure continues after the main story with a huge post-game, including a chance to catch Mew, re-challenge a modified Elite Four and all 16 Gym Leaders, and battle Red on Mt. Silver.
- New Areas & Expanded Maps: Kanto and Johto have been expanded with bigger maps and new secret areas to encourage exploration, including a replacement for the Johto Safari Zone where you can battle the developers.
