Description
Inspired by the popular "Legacy" series of ROM hacks, this decomp hack is the ultimate, definitive way to experience Kanto. It meticulously fixes the original game's biggest flaws-removing excessive HM trees, time-wasting tutorials, and the lack of cross-gen evolutions-while injecting massive Quality of Life improvements. With 30 new Johto and cross-gen Pokémon natively integrated, selectable difficulty modes (including a built-in Nuzlocke), completely overhauled trainer teams, and a massively expanded Sevii Islands post-game where you can catch all Hoenn Pokémon, this is a fresh, modern, and highly polished return to the Gen 3 classics.
Features
- Legacy-Inspired Overhaul: Built as an unofficial "Legacy" version of FRLG, porting many battle engine changes, stat rebalances, and features from Yellow/Emerald Legacy.
- Expanded Native Pokédex (181 Main Dex): The main game dex features 181 Pokémon, seamlessly integrating 30 Johto and cross-gen evolutions (like Crobat and Scizor) into the natural Kanto progression.
- Catch All Hoenn Pokémon (V1.5 Feature): After a post-game quest on Route 10, wild Hoenn Pokémon will begin appearing all across Kanto, complete with Mirage trainers holding rare Pokémon.
- Selectable Difficulty Modes: Choose between Normal (classic rules), Hard (level caps, Set mode, no items in battle), and Hardcore (adds permanent death/Nuzlocke rules).
- Completely Revamped Trainers: Bosses, Gym Leaders, and regular NPCs have significantly improved teams, movesets, and level curves (e.g., Giovanni has his signature Rhydon, Champion capped at Lv 65).
- Major HM Overhaul: Cut trees and Rock Smash rocks are removed permanently once broken. HMs can be replaced, and many HM requirements have been reworked or made optional.
- Expanded Post-Game & Sevii League: The Sevii Islands are vastly improved with new battles, a "Sevii League" of boss trainers, expanded map areas (like Two Island South with Southside Cave/Rock), and a Celebi treasure hunt.
- Famechecker Rematches & Rewards: Filling out the Famechecker now grants unique rewards (like Castform and Soul Dew) and is the key to unlocking Gym Leader rematches.
- Improved Map Design: Empty or poorly designed areas (like Mt. Moon and Cinnabar Island) have been fleshed out, new areas like Mt. Moon Square and an under-Rock Tunnel floor added, and Rock on Route 10 leads to Hoenn Pokémon.
- Fixed Roaming Legendaries: Roamers no longer use Roar, have good IVs, and become much easier to track and catch after defeating the Elite Four.
- Both Versions Playable: Reignited (FireRed) and Regrown (LeafGreen) are both available. You can catch all 386 Pokémon in either game, but wild encounter locations and specific trades differ (e.g., Oddish/Bellsprout in Viridian Forest).
- Trade Evolutions Fixed: All trade-evolution Pokémon can now evolve using their specific item or via leveling up (e.g., Feebas with Prism Scale).
- Improved Pokémon Stats, Movesets & Abilities: Bug Type is buffed, many Pokémon (like Nidoran line) get better stats, movesets, and abilities (e.g., Nidorans get Lightning Rod/Run Away, Chansey's Lucky Punch buffed).
- Dark and Ghost Swapped Types: A unique type chart change.
- Modern EXP Share & Early Running Shoes: Get the Running Shoes immediately in Oak's Lab, and receive the modern EXP Share in their original place.
- EV and IV Checkers: Easily check your Pokémon's stats on the 2nd floor of any Pokémon Center.
- Bag Sorting & Faster Healing: Nurse Joy heals your team much faster, and your bag can be auto-sorted.
- Repel Reuse & Repeated Medicine Use: The game automatically prompts you to use another Repel when one runs out, and apply multiple Potions or Rare Candies without leaving the menu.
- Improved TM Placement & Reusability: Essential TMs (Hidden Power, Sludge Bomb) are placed better (e.g., Ice Beam in Seafoam, Thunderbolt in Power Plant), and Move Tutors have been made more accessible (Moved to Cinnabar).
- Safari Zone Buffs: Bait, Rocks, and Safari Balls have been tweaked to make catching significantly less frustrating.
- Respawnable Items: Hidden items respawn after taking just 1000 steps.
- Move Description Window: Check move details directly in battle (using Select button).
- Team Rocket Theme: Custom Team Rocket battle music (from Crystal Dust).
- Unlock Truck Area Early: Access the truck without trading (though no Mew).
- QoL Event Unlocks: NPCs block trees until SS Anne rival, Misty/Blue open Dig House, and beating an overleveled guard opens Vermillion gates.
- Improved Shops: Various merchants (e.g., Two Island Merchant) have better item selections.
- Trainer Tower Enhancements: Singles and Doubles have more Pokémon, better sets, and rewards.
- More Overworld Sprites: Increased diversity for trainer overworld sprites.
- RBY Battle Animations: Champion and Oak battles feature RBY-style battle animations.
- Early Daisy Grooming: Daisy's grooming available earlier and provides more friendship.
- Mystery Gift Pichu Egg: Obtain a Pichu with Surf at the start of the game (in Pokécenters).
- Hail and Sandstorm Duration: Weather moves now last for ten turns.
- Lost Cave & Sudowoodo: Lost Cave content and a Sudowoodo tree to find.
- VS Seeker Upgrade: Post-game VS Seeker takes 1/5 steps and finds 100% of trainers in range.
- National Dex Requirement Removed: No 60 Pokémon requirement for National Dex.
- Egg Tutor: Available after beating a certain set of trainers.
- Johto Trainers: A certain set of Johto trainers are available to battle.
- Catch All 180 Pokémon: Catch all Pokémon in the main dex and meet Oak.
