Description
Built from the vanilla Emerald decomp, Pokémon Obscura is a ROM hack set in the Shizen region, a region that is on the cusp of booming Pokémon technology. In Pokémon Obscura, your 16 year old protagonist is thrown right into the action, as you meet a strange figure that tells you of an impending doom that can only be resolved by the return of an ancient Pokémon guardian that has been missing for 200 years, and you guessed it, that person who will restore balance to the Shizen region is none other than you! Travel this new region with its own story with Pokémon spanning gens 1-9 from a hand-selected 256 count Pokédex while you battle heroes from the past to obtain the strength that you need to restore the region...and battle against an enemy organization looking to obtain this strength for themselves.

- Not a difficulty hack-challenge comes from smarter AI and soft EXP level caps
- Trainer AI improved across the board (based on vanilla Emerald AI) ➡️"Multiverse" story concept-familiar character sprites used with new identities ➡️Solo-developed project with reused sprites due to limited art experience ➡️Gens 1-9 Pokémon available, but move pool limited to Gens 1-3
- Uses Hisuian, Alolan, and Galarian forms instead of base forms for certain species (e.g. Zigzagoon, Decidueye, Samurott)
- Significantly increased EXP gain to reduce grinding
- Soft EXP level caps to balance fast leveling (EXP still earned after cap, but reduced)
- HMs are usable if a Pokémon can learn them-no need to teach
- Friendship/trade evolutions removed-now use level-ups or items
- Wild Pokémon levels scale based on your party's average level
- Party-wide Exp Share unlocks after the 2nd gym (can be toggled)
- Reusable TMs
- IV Checker available in every Pokémon Center
- Shiny odds increased
- Catching Pokémon grants EXP
