- Over 350 Custom Shinies: More than 350 Pokémon from the first three generations have brand new, custom-made shiny color palettes.
- Expanded Pokédex (Gen 1-3): Every non-legendary Pokémon from the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn regions is obtainable before challenging the Elite Four.
- All Legendaries Available Post-Game: The post-game has been updated to include encounters with every single legendary and mythical Pokémon from the first three generations.
- No More Trade or Friendship Evolutions: All evolution methods that required trading or high friendship have been replaced with new, accessible in-game criteria.
- New Gym Leaders & Double Battles: The game features all-new Gym Leaders and Elite Four members, with many major battles being double battles.
- A Brand New Rival: Face off against a new, recurring rival who uses a team of non-Kanto Pokémon.
- Improved Leveling & Balancing: The game has a slightly increased difficulty with an improved level curve. To reduce grinding, new "EXP grinding areas" have been added to each gym town.

- Obtainable Starter Pokémon: You can find and catch the other starter Pokémon in the wild as rare encounters.
- Reworked PokéMarts: PokéMarts now sell a much wider variety of items, including evolution items, making them more useful.
- No Shiny Locks: Nearly every Pokémon in the game can be shiny. This includes all wild, static, and gift Pokémon (like your starter and the Magikarp salesman's Magikarp). The only exceptions are in-game trade Pokémon.
- Expanded TM/HM Compatibility: Many TMs and HMs have been reworked to be compatible with a wider range of Pokémon.
