Pokémon Modern Emerald
This hack is a "3rd generation hack", meaning that it doesn't try to mimic later generations and, although certain features and improvements from later generations are included, this hack is a 3rd generation game at its core. Don't expect all the new moves from later generations, or being able to catch 900 different Pokémon. This hack does not include the "Battle Engine Upgrade" or anything similar, but it does include certain mechanics from it (like the OPTIONAL Physical / Special split that happened in Gen. IV, or the Fairy Type). There are a total of 423 Pokémon, including 2 from Generation 8 and 3 from Generation 9.

Pokémon Refined Gold Overhaul
Refined Gold offers improved wild Pokemon diversity with a focus on integrating Pokemon normally unavailable or agonizing to find such as Sneasel and Marill, while keeping true to the regional dex. Overall progression, design and especially postgame content has been bolstered and improved to make the game play and feel better while retaining the sense of identity of vanilla Heartgold as much as possible. In the Overhaul, the level curve has been completely redone to make the slog of grinding weak mons for weak gyms into a proper, engaging Pokemon experience. It is a HeartGold trashlocke hack built around using only trashmons, Pokémon with a base stat total under 425 (with a few exceptions). Many Pokémon either don't evolve or evolve much later than usual, forcing creative strategies and unconventional team-building. Despite the restrictions, a a variety of Pokémon are available from Gen 1 to 9 including regional forms, making each run unpredictable and replayable.

It is a remake of Pokemon FireRed, with only slight changes to the story. This is not a difficulty hack. It is intented for casual playing, with a slight increase in difficulty in main battles compared to the original game. It is a ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald with a focus on exploration and battling. It features a custom map layout, Pokémon rebalancing, its very own battle gimmick, and modifies core features such as evolution, catching, and levelling. It uses the original Pokémon Emerald's tileset with only a few new additions, and contains a custom Pokédex of 340 Pokémon (around 140 for this demo) with the majority being gens 1-3.
